It's been a rough month in the Maravich camp. Well, mostly just for Jim. Newbie Jim was welcomed to the band by getting hit by a car, breaking his foot, becoming completely incapacitated for a month, having his car and his girlfriend's car flooded (as well as her apartment). BUT things may be looking up! By the end of the month, Jim should be walking, may have a new car, and Maravich should be up and running again. We plan on taking a few weeks to get up to full speed but by the end of July we should be 110%.

The show at Sam's with Canadian Rifle, Mouthbreather, and Sex Before Marriage was awesome. A great first show with Jim. The other bands were great, and the sound guy was... dedicated. At the 1511 we played even better, Sex Before Marriage was once again stunning, and then we were both summarily blown off the stage and out of the basement by Impure Jazz. A great night all around.

So, to sum it up: By next week Jim should hopefully be back to practice and moving about. We have a few new songs that will (hopefully) cause a funny feeling in your middle. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY the return of Maravich is slated for August 8th with our dudes Virgil and Lafcadio at Local's Only! Hopefully the calendar will start to fill up from there... Excelsior!

Alright, here's the deal. Maravich will be playing twice next week. Then we won't be playing for a while. Then we will be back. With a vengeance.

This Thursday we debut with our new lineup. The now double-Jim-ed Maravich will be playing at Sam's Saloon with Canadian Rifle from Chicago, Mouthbreather from Richmond, VA, and our dudes Sex Before Marriage. Sam's is a great place to see a show, and if you haven't made it out yet you should! The doors open at 7:00 and I think we are playing early so make sure you get there on time.

If you can't make it, we are playing another great show the next day at the 1511 with Impure Jazz, Richard Cranium, and Sex Before Marriage.

So that is this Thursday and Friday May 22nd, & 23rd. After that we are going to take some time off to write more with the new lineup and get totally badass again. Never fear, though. July 23rd we will return full force to play at the Halloween House with Shot Baker, Till Plains, and Bulletwolf. We may be back before then but we'll see. Until then readers, I remain Jim #1. So it looks like we have found a replacement for Ian on bass. We'll be debuting with him on May 22 @ Sam's Saloon. We'll be playing with Mouthbreather, Canadian Rifle, and maybe one more local. The show a couple weeks ago with Virgil and Bulletwolf was killer. The Mel is always fun, and the two bands killed it. It's always the most fun to play with your bestest dudes in the world. Thanks to everyone who made it out on a Wednesday.
We're also waiting to get back the recording we did in Bloomington about a month ago. It'll be three new songs and we're pretty excited to hear them. Thanks to Tim for recording us, hopefully we'll get them soon and you'll be able to check them out.


Now the bad news. Ian has decided to leave Maravich, leaving us one man short of our triumvirate of power. If you know anyone cool who can play bass and wants to be in a band please get in touch ASAP. Hopefully we won't have to cancel any shows but I guess we'll see. As of now our next show is May 22 with Canadian Rifle and Mouthbreather at Sam's Saloon. We plan on being there, you should too!

So a couple weeks ago we had a ton of fun. Friday we went to Lafayette with our partners in crime Sex Before Marriage to play at The Venue. We both played pretty awesome sets. Two locals filled out the bill. Living Another Yesterday from Lafayette were great and great dudes as well. Guitar Hero also rocked the house. Oh yeah, and Spinal Tap were playing across the street. Who says college towns die during spring break?

The next day we went to Bloomington to lay some tracks with our man Tim. It was a blast and we have three songs pretty much done. We are going back to the studio on Saturday to finish up and record vocals. So look for three new Maravich songs in the near future. Not sure what we are going to do with them yet.

We three dudes will be busy this weekend! Tonight we head up to Lafayette with our friends SexBeforeMarriage to kick some ass. The show is at a place called The Venue, and I believe the show starts around 9.

Tomorrow we head down to Bloomington to demo a few new songs. We probably won't have them fully done for a few weeks but I'm sure some of them will be posted here when they are done. Thanks to our man Tim for offering to record us.
