April - take a breath

We're taking it easy this month! We ran it a little hot the past couple of months, played a bunch of shows. Some of them good. We are giving Indy a break from us for a few weeks.

We'll be back on May 15th though! We're playing "Whiny 90's" at Birdies, a 90's tribute show. Did you wear black for a week after Kurt Cobain died? Have you ever worn long johns under cut off shorts? Have you ever posessed a closet full of flannel? Did you buy a "Grunge" pedal, or anything else with a "grunge" label on it? Oh. Yeah we didn't do any of that either.... Come see us kill our idols! One band who someone at the Mel thinks was better than us. One band who only had two members (but we'll make it work with three...). One band whose singer dated Winona Ryder (not Soul Asylum. Or Bright Eyes. Or the Lemonheads. Or... well... you'll see). One band that shares members with Gorilla Biscuits. One band who we blatantly rip off. One band that should be totally fucking obvious if you know me at all. Needless to say, this will be fun! May 15th @ Birdies!

On May 21st we're headed back to the 1511 basement. Haven't played there in a while, so it should be fun. Our friends SexBeforeMarriage, CMNDR, EA & DH Strother will be joining us. Should be a great night overall. Show is all ages. Bring earplugs.

As always, we'll keep up updated on any other comings and goings. Until next time, check out our facebook page. And check out www.theindycog.com if you are in indy!

St. Mulletwich Day

Have you heard of this holiday? Its the day after St. Patrick's day. The idea of this holiday is that you give yourself the full day to recover from St. Patty's debauchery, then the next night you go out and do it all over again but ten times harder. That is what we are doing THURSDAY, with us and Bulletwolf @ Local's Only. The best thing? Unlike St. Patty's when bars jack up their prices, on St. Mulletwich Day the COVER IS FREE, and there are DOLLAR BEERS!

So, yeah, put it on your planner and be there!

2/22 - Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you

Big show this Friday (2/26)! Local hard rock heroes State team up with us and an out of town band, No Star, at the Vollrath. State is one of our favorite local bands, and it should be a lot of fun. They always put on a good show.
Next week we've got an all ages show at the Dojo, our first all ages show in a while. We're playing with hard indie rockers Trophy Wives from Louisville (ex Elliot/Coliseum/etc), our dudes Sorely Trying Days will bring the hardcore from Kokomo, and Red Shadows (ex-Angelville, Salvation, Jim Fix, Human Condition, Azis & Allies, a bunch of other stuff...) round out the bill. We've been wanting to team up with Red Shadows for a while, it's a bit of a reunion of sorts... the first time ex-Jim Fix dudes Pooty and Jim have shared a bill! The Dojo, in case you don't know is next to the Emerson on 10th & Bosart, on the corner.
Coming up in a few weeks (3/18) we have a free show with Bulletwolf at Local's Only! This is a weeknight, but no cover and Bulletwolf... can't beat it. We've also got 3/31 at the Mel as well. More info on that to follow. Should be a great month! No excuse not to make it to one of these awesome shows.

Cabin Fever 1/21

Well, the dregs of winter have arrived, looks like we launched the new website just in time! There will be more updates and stuff added to the site, but this is the new basic design. Visit early and often.

We've got a couple good shows coming up in February, and it's damn cold outside so it's not like you have much else to do other than come to the Vollrath where it is warm and you can drink and get your head blown off by some awesome bands.

On February 12th we'll be at the Vollrath celebrating our friend Jesse Lee's birthday with Rooms, The Perrennials, and Impure Jazz. It should be an awesome time. A couple weeks later, on the 26th we'll be back at the Vollrath with local heroes State and No Star (not the old local band No Star, another out of state No Star). We've been wanting to get on a bill with State for a while, and if you haven't seen them it should be awesome. Definitely plan on making it out to this!

We've got some pots in the fire for March (March 31st @ the Melody Inn). Check back for more info! Till then, keep your heads up true believers!

The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once.

Hey! We're back this Friday at the Vollrath with our friends Stand and Deliver, Bulletwolf, and Shot Baker from Chicago! It's going to be an awesome show. We've got a couple shows lined up in the near future and are working on more. I'll update as they come up. We're also working on launching a new website, hopefully in the next month. So keep checking back to see updates!

Also, a reminder that we have three new tunes up at our myspace page. Prefontaine, Kokomo Hum, and I'm Not Sorry So check 'em out.

THE VOLLRATH: 118 East Palmer StreetIndianapolis, IN 46225-1680(317) 632-5199

Show starts @ 10:00, and we're playing first so get there, get a beer, and have a good time.

Go! There are other worlds than this!

Had an awesome month! Great show at the Vollrath with our dudes in Bulletwolf and Secrets Between Sailors from Bloomington. After the show we lost our merch box, though. So that sucked. But it was ok, because a week later we played another great show at the Melody Inn with the Dockers, Lines of Nazca, and Casket of the Blistered Social. See pics here:
http://www.punkrocknight.com/gallery/album454

These were our last couple of shows until at least December. As we said before, we're taking a short break for some personal stuff. The good news is we have new demos available at record stores around Indianapolis (Vibes, Luna, Indy CD & Vinyl... ). We recorded and produced the CDs ourselves, so we can offer them for free! Three new songs ("Kokomo Hum", "Prefontaine", and "I'm Not Sorry"). We'll try and get them uploaded here soon. Check 'em out!

We have some plans for our down time. Hopefully by the time we come back we'll have some new songs, some new merch, maybe a new website. Who knows. Keep checking back for updates!

See you in the winter! Let us know if you need a band to play your company's New Years party! Not really.

It pays to be obvious

Maravich has been on vacation for the last month! Sorry for the lack of updates. But it's not like we've just been sitting on our asses! Ok, we have. So?

We have managed to finish off the tracking on some new recordings. They are being mixed and hopefully we'll have them ready for your auditory consumption in September...

Which brings us to September! On 9/11 we're going to be at the Vollrath in Fountain Square with our friends Bulletwolf, Secrets Between Sailors (from Bloomington) and one more TBA. This should be an awesome show and tons of fun. I recommend putting it on your calendar NOW! The next week on 9/19 we're playing a Punk Rock Night benefit show at the Melody Inn. The Dockers, Thin Fevers, and Casket of the Blistered Social are all playing. The Mel is always a good time, and it's raising money for Punk Rock Night, which is also always a good time. So show up, drink beer, and have a good time.

Unfortunately, after the 19th we're going away for a while again. Yeah, I know it's lame, but Jim bought a new foot and it's going to take him a few months to get used to it. Hopefully we'll only be out for October and part of (or all of) November. We'll be back in time to play your post Thanksgiving, X-Mas, and New Years parties. And maybe we'll have some new stuff for you then as well!

So, I know you like to put things off, but don't miss your two chances to see us in September...
